Installation 'Zeitraum' (Time Period) at Flugwerft Schleissheim - Deutsches Museum © 1994 Angelika Boeck, photograph: Lothar Reichl

Time Period

The site-specific spatial installation, on the occasion of an exhibition at the Flugwerft Schleißheim - Deutsches Museum, cast the shadow of a VAK 191 plane from September 16, 1993 to January 30, 1994. The position of the shadow silhouette of the VAK 91 vertical take-off plane, which it would reach on January 31, 1994 at 12 noon was marked on the window behind the plane with adhesive foil directly at the opening of the exhibition.

Details
Adhesive film on window glass, approx. 560 x 1003 cm; Period: 16. 9. 1993-30. 1. 1. 1994; Position: 12:00, 48°25'N 11°55'O

Day by day the actual shadow of the aircraft moved closer to the stand (the shadow cast by the adhesive film on the ground), only to coincide with it at the predicted time. The calculation of space and time is not only necessary for determining the course of a plane, it is important for any orientation.
