Portrait with Landscape

In this paper, I present my practice-oriented research as a way of how landscape in the light of other cultural practices and artistic expressions could open up new perspectives to deepen and broaden W.J.T. Mitchell's intercultural and multi-sensory perspective on landscape. I plead for a stronger inclusion of different cultural practices/traditions and artistic positions in the landscape discourse by discussing the works of other contemporary artists Jorma Puranen, Kathleen Petyarre who have combined aspects of portrait and landscape in their work, which offers both opportunities for reflection and social/political change.
