The sculpture was developed within the framework of an open competition for the inner courtyard of the Clinic for Internal Medicine in Würzburg and was commissioned by the Würzburg State Building Authority.

Steel, painted; 17 x 3 x 8 meters

Representing a 1:1 scale replica of a deformed Merklin steel lattice mast, the sculpture refers to a fire-breathing hybrid creature embodied in many myths, symbolizing the overcoming of difficulties before reaching a high goal: Especially in China and Japan, the dragon is worshipped as a lucky charm and demon repellent. The power pole converted into a dragon is intended to remind patients, hospital staff and visitors of these qualities.
