Cress, soil, water

The room-related piece, installed during the semester break, in the classroom of Prof. James Reineking at the Munich Academy of Fine Art. Firstly, the cracks between the wooden floorboards were scraped out and cleaned and subsequently filled with a mixture of soil and cress seeds like furrows in a field. Each morning the seed was watered and the plants increasingly took possession of the room. The classroom became a greenhouse, the interior was converted into an exterior. The planted room could no longer be used for teaching or working. The wooden floorboards also contributed their history to the experiment – depending on which substance had already been spilt at any one spot, the cress either grew or not.
